Our telescope

On Monday the 8th of June Louie, Kade and I created this model telescope ( that unfortunately doesn't work) This took us two days to gather materials, and build the telescope. our telescope consists of a toilet paper roll, a cardboard box, paper and cellar tape. during this experiment we discovered something, you can't build a telescope with a toilet paper roll and tape.
my favourite part of this activity was gathering the materials.

Something Alive

Something alive is a graphic novel written by Jem Yoshioka. This text is about a young girl who was born in New Zealand, but has an japenese heritage, due to her grandmother being japanese. Even though she was born in NZ, she still gets picked on because she has a Japanese background. People will often ask her questions that they know she doesn't  know. Her grandmother is also encouraging her to read and write japanese. Some might say that the author feels guilty for not knowing enough about her heritage.

Acrostic poem

today for writing we had to create a poem based on the book/word "Refugee" I feel I could have made it better if I was given more time.

Running
Eerie
Fearful
Unready
Gasoline
Energetic
Eager

Missing poster

for reading today we had to create a missing poster for Mahmouds little sister, Hanna.
I wasn't quite sure what Hanna looked like, but I did know that she was a baby and she was born in Syria. in the novel it also reads that she is wrapped in a blanket and she is crying.

The poster states: Mahmoud sent his sister Hanna away with other people to save her life

Design a missing poster that could be put on display in Greece to attempt to find her. think carefully about her physical description, languages she speaks and other things that might help someone to identify her.

StoryBoard That

Today for reading we had to read chapter 19-21 of our book "Refugee" By Alan Gratz. we also had to create a Storyboard showing one of the 3 characters from our novels journey. I chose Josef, a young Jewish boy living in Germany (1938) His Father has been thrown into a concentration camp for practicing law and order (as it was illegal for Jews to practice law and order back then)
