Animation

Over the years NASA have found over 4200 exoplanets in our outer solar system. In order to find a habitable exoplanet, you must find one close to a star (similar to the sun) the exoplanet must be the perfect distance so that it's not too cold nor too hot.

Kepler 22-b

Kelper 22-b

Kepler 22-b is a potentially rocky world, larger than earth. Kepler 22 (not to be confused with kepler 22-b) is what is known as a G type star, orbiting Kepler 22-b.
Kepler is known to be approximately 620 light years from earth.
Probably one of the most argued subjects is weather or not there is life on other planets.
The amount of stars in the sky are uncountable, who's to say if there are habit-ants? to this day NASA are still discovering planets. Personally I believe that there could be life on other planets.
What do you think?

Galileo summary

For literacy today we had to create a summery using a medium of our choice.

3D Solar System

for Inquiry these past few days we have had to create a 3D model of the solar system.
for this activity I used Tinkercad, A very useful 3D tool.
this was really fun, seeing as I have Never used Tinkercad before.

Galileo presentation

Galileo was a world renowned physicist and Astronomer, Although his father wanted him to be a doctor, he eventually persuaded his father to let him be a astronomer
Did you know Galileo didn’t actually invent the telescope. Believe it or not, but the telescope was truly invented by Hans Lippershey and Lyman Spitzer.
Back in the day, people believed in the theory that Earth and all other planets revolve around the Sun. Most people in Galileo's time believed that the Earth was the center of the universe and that the Sun and planets revolved around it.

Did you know that Galileo discovered four of Jupiter's moons almost four hundred years ago!

Facts About Galileo:
1.Galileo was a college dropout

2.His daughters were Nuns

3.He spent his final years under house arrest

4.His middle finger is on display in a museum

5. NASA named a spacecraft after him

Our telescope

On Monday the 8th of June Louie, Kade and I created this model telescope ( that unfortunately doesn't work) This took us two days to gather materials, and build the telescope. our telescope consists of a toilet paper roll, a cardboard box, paper and cellar tape. during this experiment we discovered something, you can't build a telescope with a toilet paper roll and tape.
my favourite part of this activity was gathering the materials.

Something Alive

Something alive is a graphic novel written by Jem Yoshioka. This text is about a young girl who was born in New Zealand, but has an japenese heritage, due to her grandmother being japanese. Even though she was born in NZ, she still gets picked on because she has a Japanese background. People will often ask her questions that they know she doesn't  know. Her grandmother is also encouraging her to read and write japanese. Some might say that the author feels guilty for not knowing enough about her heritage.
